| In 1913 Roy C. Whayne Supply Company was founded in Louisville by Roy C. Whayne Sr. He was the sole employee at the time, but found a decent living selling light engines, pumps, wheelbarrows and bicycles. Today, the company he started on a shoestring budget is one of the oldest and largest heavy equipment dealerships in North America.
Whayne signed a contract to represent the Holt Manufacturing Company in 1920. Five years later, Holt merged with the Best Company to form Caterpillar Tractor Company, and Whayne began its long-term association with this leading manufacturer of earthmoving equipment.
Today, Whayne Supply employs more than 1,000 people, represents a variety of major equipment lines and maintains extensive parts inventory and service capabilities, while still playing a major role as good corporate citizens in all of the communities it serves. |
