Ground Breaking for new Bowling Green location

The official ground breaking ceremony for the new Bowling Green branch was held December 19, 2007 at the site of the new facility at 390 High Rail Way. Members of the Chamber of Commerce, the Mayor of Bowling Green, Whayne VIP’s and others gathered for the event.

“This is quite an expansion,” Brian Cambron, V.P. and Branch Operations Manager at Bowling Green explained. “When the original Bowling Green branch opened in 1954 it was surrounded by cornfields and was a little over a mile from downtown.  Now we are surrounded by an ever expanding city and have no room for much needed expansion.  The new location will give us room to grow and meet the demands of the customers we serve.”

The current location at 651 US Hwy 31W. bypass sits on 2.7 acres. The buildings cover 24,925 square feet.

The new facility will sit on 20 acres and have over 65,000 square feet under roof. Employment will increase from the current 45 to 60 full-time.

Bowling Green Mayor Elaine Walker addressed the crowd and said, “Every day is a great day in Bowling Green. But there’s even more to celebrate on a day like today when a local company chooses to expand their business and further their investment in the community.”

“We have a long history of doing business in this state, particularly in South Central Kentucky,” said Monty Boyd, President and CEO of Whayne Supply Company. “This expansion is a direct result of the quality of business we do in this region, and it demonstrates our commitment to our customers. With an expanded operation and new, state-of-the-art facility, we’ll be able to better serve our customers, as well as continue to grow our business.”
